COMPETE - is a national advocacy coalition of electricity stakeholders who support policies that promote reliable, low-cost electric power through competitive electricity markets. Website.

                    

Edison Electric Institute (EEI) - is the association of U.S. shareholder-owned electric companies. Our members serve 95 percent of the ultimate customers in the shareholder-owned segment of the industry, and represent approximately 70 percent of the U.S. electric power industry. We also have more than 65 International electric companies as Affiliate members, and more than 170 industry suppliers and related organizations as Associate members.

Electricity Consumers Resource Council (ELCON) - founded in 1976, is an association of large industrial consumers of electricity.  Our members have facilities in most of the fifty states and in many foreign countries.  These companies come from virtually every manufacturing industry.  Our member companies consume nearly six percent of all the electricity used in the United States.  These companies require an adequate and reliable supply of electricity at competitive prices.  In a recent poll by a Washington think tank, utility executives ranked "competition" as the most important issue facing their industry, closely followed by "retail access and sales."  ELCON has been, and will continue to be, a leading catalyst for change in the electricity industry.   Website

Industrial Energy Consumers of America (IECA) - a 501 (C) (6) nonprofit member-led organization created to promote the interests of manufacturing companies for which the availability, use and cost of energy, power or feedstock play a significant role in their ability to compete in domestic and world markets.  IECA was founded on the belief that a robust, diverse and affordable supply of energy is required to sustain economic growth, quality of life for our citizens, and the competitiveness of industry.  Website.

 

Large Public Power Council (LPPC) - an organization of the nation's largest locally owned and controlled power systems [that] works to develop and advance consumer-oriented positions on national energy issues.  Website

 

Pusat Tenaga Malaysia (PTM) - was registered on 12th May 1998 as a not-for-profit company. During its formative infancy, PTM will be administered by the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia (MECM), Malaysia. PTM is also governed by a Board of Directors (BOD) which sets its policy directions.  The rationale behind PTM's establishment is to fulfill the need for a national energy research centre that will co-ordinate various activities, specifically energy planning and research, energy efficiency, and technological research, development and demonstration (R,D&D) undertaken in the energy sector due to the long lead time for energy projects to come on stream.  Website.

 

NASUCA - National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates - www.nasuca.org.  NASUCA is an association of 44 consumer advocates in 40 states and the District of Columbia. NASUCA's members are designated by the laws of their respective jurisdictions to represent the interests of utility consumers before state and federal regulators and in the courts.

  

National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) - a nonprofit organization of governmental agencies engaged in the regulation of utilities and carriers in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

National Council on Electricity Policy - http://www.ncouncil.org/ - The National Council was formed to assist policymakers with the challenges posed by the dramatic changes brought about by the reexamination of the traditional franchise electric system.

 

National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO)  - is the only nonprofit organization that represents the Governor-designated energy officials from each state and territory. The organization was created to improve the effectiveness and quality of state energy programs and policies, provide policy input and analysis, share successes among the states, and be a repository of information on energy issues of concern to the states and their citizens.  Website.

 

NEMA - is the trade association of choice for the electrical manufacturing industry. Founded in 1926 and headquartered near Washington, D.C., its approximately 450 member companies manufacture products used in the generation, transmission and distribution, control, and end-use of electricity.

(The) Tennessee Valley Public Power Association - (TVPPA) - is the nonprofit, regional service organization that represents the interests of consumer-owned electric utilities operating within the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) service area. TVPPA members include both municipal and electric cooperatives, and they serve more than 8.5 million customers in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia. Our mission is twofold: to serve as an effective advocate for our members’ interests with the public, in the political process, and with the TVA; and to be a successful independent provider of competitive business services. As a voluntary service organization, we provide our members with the advantages of larger utility operations without relinquishing the local ownership and control that is essential to our independent distribution systems. Transmission Access Policy Study Group (TAPS) - an informal association of publicly and privately-owned transmission-dependent electric utilities … [whose] members support vigorously competitive wholesale electric markets.  Website.

 

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association - is a wholesale electric power supplier owned by the 44 electric cooperatives that it serves. Tri-State generates and transports electricity to its member systems throughout a 250,000 square-mile service territory across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming. Serving more than 1.4 million consumers, Tri-State was founded in 1952 by its member systems to provide a reliable, cost-based supply of electricity. Headquartered in Westminster, Colo., more than 1,000 people are employed by Tri-State throughout its four-state service area.

(The) Western Interstate Energy Board - is an organization of 12 western states and three western Canadian provinces, which are associate members of the Board. The governor of each state appoints a member to the Board.  The legal basis of the Board is the Western Interstate Nuclear Compact (Public Law 91-461).  The Compact provides for the President of the United States to appoint an ex-officio member to the Board.  The Compact states that the purpose of the Board is to provide the instruments and framework for cooperative state efforts to "enhance the economy of the West and contribute to the well-being of the region's people."  The Board seeks to achieve this purpose through cooperative efforts among member states/provinces and with the federal government in the energy field.  The Board serves as the energy arm of the Western Governors’ Association (see below).

(The) Western Governors’ Association - is an independent, nonpartisan organization of Governors representing 18 Western states, and three U.S.-flag Pacific islands. Through their Association, Governors identify and address key policy and governance issues in natural resources, the environment, human services, economic development, international relations and public management.  Governors select issues for further review based on regional interest and impact.  WGA helps the Governors develop strategies both for complex, long-term issues facing the West and for the region’s immediate needs. Governors use WGA to develop and advocate policies that reflect regional interests and relationships in debates at the national and state levels. WGA also acts as a center of innovation to find promising solutions for problems in the region.

World Energy Efficiency Organization - The World Energy Efficiency Association was founded in June 1993 as a private, non-profit organization composed of developed and developing country institutions and individuals charged with increasing energy efficiency.
