Energy Companies: Energy companies are interested in plug-in hybrid vehicles for 2 reasons: 1.) they represent an additional source of income from electricity usage - and most of that energy will be used off-peak and not require incremental investment in infrastructure, and 2.) some of the energy from plug-in hybrids will be available during peak times to be dispatched into the grid, thereby delaying new plant construction. These vehicles will also classify as "spinning reserve" and receive payments from energy companies for performing this function as well.
