Hydrogen accounts for 90% of the universe by weight. About 2 pounds of hydrogen equals about 1 gallon of gasoline in energy value. It requires 2.35 gallons of water to make two pounds of hydrogen. Hydrogen is an energy carrier, like electricity, and may be used to store the energy from renewable sources until it is needed. A fuel cell is an energy conversion device: it takes hydrogen gas and produces electricity and water using a catalyst and a membrane.

Sunnyside Technologies - was established in 2002 to develop products and processes for the unmet needs in advanced materials, chemical, and medical technologies. With private funding, SBIR grants from NSF, DOE, NIH and PIER Project from California Energy Commission, SunyteK has developed several technology platforms. One step hydrogen production from hydrocarbons such as nature gas, propane, gasoline, and diesel is at similar cost as compared with the -state-of-the-art steam reforming (Natural gas price@ $6/1.0 MMBtu).
