(The) National Conference of State Legislatures - is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. NCSL is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of state governments before Congress and federal agencies. NCSL is your organization. The leadership of NCSL is composed of legislators and staff from across the country. The NCSL Executive Committee provides overall direction on operations of the Conference.

National Council on Electricity Policy - a joint venture among the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO), and the National Governor's Association (NGA). The National Council was formed to assist policymakers with the challenges posed by the dramatic changes brought about by the reexamination of the traditional franchise electric system. The National Council was initially created through funding by Department of Energy's (DOE), which continues to be the primary source of funding for the National Council.  Website.

 

National Regulatory Research Institute - The NRRI was established by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) at the Ohio State University in 1976 to serve as NARUC’s research resource. In 1981 NARUC established regularized state commission support of the NRRI. Major sources of funding are the 50 states and the District of Columbia, The Ohio State University and Canadian regulatory agencies. Commissioners and staff from those agencies are NRRI members.  Increasingly, the NRRI serves government and not-for-profit organizations through customized contractual relationships. Specific technical assistance under contract has been provided to most of the state commissions, several state legislatures, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. General Accounting Office, the Library of Congress, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and over 20 countries throughout the world.  Website.
