Advanced Power and Energy Program (APEP) - consists of four organizational elements: The National Fuel Cell Research Center, The UCI Combustion Laboratory, and The Distributed Technologies Testing Facilty and the Pacific Rim Consortium on Combustion, Energy, and the Environment.  Major goals include Education, Research and Development, Beta Testing, Demonstrations, and facilitation of new technologies into the market.  Website.

 

American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy - is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting both economic prosperity and environmental protection.  Projects are carried out by staff and selected energy efficiency experts from universities, national laboratories, and the private sector.

Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) - conducts research and development for the global electricity sector. An independent, nonprofit organization, EPRI brings together experts from academia and industry as well as its own scientists and engineers to help address challenges in electricity generation, delivery and use, including health, safety and the environment. EPRI also provides technology, policy and economic analyses to drive long-range research and development planning, and supports research in emerging technologies.  EPRI's members represent more than 90 percent of the electricity generated and delivered in the United States , and international participation extends to 40 countries.

International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) - The IEC is the world's leading organization that prepares and publishes International Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies — collectively known as electrotechnology.

International Energy Agency (IEA) - acts as energy policy advisor to 27 member countries in their effort to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for their citizens. Founded during the oil crisis of 1973-74, the IEA’s initial role was to co-ordinate measures in times of oil supply emergencies. As energy markets have changed, so has the IEA. Its mandate has broadened to incorporate the “Three E’s” of balanced energy policy making: energy security, economic development and environmental protection. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) - has been a leader in science and engineering research for more than 70 years. Located on a 200 acre site in the hills above the University of California's Berkeley campus, adjacent to the San Francisco Bay, Berkeley Lab holds the distinction of being the oldest of the U.S. Department of Energy's National Laboratories. The Lab is managed by the University of California, operating with an annual budget of more than $500 million (FY2004) and a staff of about 3,800 employees, including more than 500 students.  Website.

 

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) - is a premier applied science laboratory that is part of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) within the Department of Energy (DOE). LLNL was managed from its inception in 1952 through September 2007 by the University of California for the U.S. government.

National Regulatory Research Institute (NRRI) - The NRRI was established by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) at the Ohio State University in 1976 to serve as NARUC’s research resource. In 1981 NARUC established regularized state commission support of the NRRI. Major sources of funding are the 50 states and the District of Columbia, The Ohio State University and Canadian regulatory agencies. Commissioners and staff from those agencies are NRRI members.  Increasingly, the NRRI serves government and not-for-profit organizations through customized contractual relationships. Specific technical assistance under contract has been provided to most of the state commissions, several state legislatures, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the U.S. General Accounting Office, the Library of Congress, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, and over 20 countries.  Website.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory - UT-Battelle manages Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the Department of Energy.

(The) Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC) - draws on university capabilities to creatively address energy related challenges. University of Cambridge - Electricity Policy Research Group - The Electricity Policy Research Group is a focus for applied interdisciplinary research into the electricity supply industry. It draws together the diverse capabilities and resources of teams working on several research projects, including Towards a Sustainable Energy Economy and the SuperGen Initiative.  EPRG research is focused on informing the ongoing restructuring of the electricity industry; the active participation of stakeholders in the industry is therefore fundamental to our research effort. Through the Electricity Policy Forum we concentrate on building up and maintaining ongoing relationships with the policy makers and corporations that are, or aspire to be, leaders in their field.

 

University of Cambridge - The Department of Land Economy - The research effort at 4CMR is expected to be at the leading edge of UK and international research in the area. The centre will also house a global modeling team, networked with multidisciplinary teams working in different countries, but adopting a common set of conventions and protocols. The centre's research will focus on climate-change mitigation through technological change induced by use of economic instruments, such as the EU's emission trading scheme, applying a multi-disciplinary approach and informing national and international policy-making.

Pacific Energy Center - The Pacific Energy Center (address & directions) offers educational programs, design tools, advice, and support to create energy efficient buildings and comfortable indoor environments. Most of their efforts are focused around commercial buildings, however, other departments offer advice and information for residential buildings.

University of California Energy Institute (UCEI) - located on the Berkeley campus, is a multi-campus research unit of the University of California system. Since its inception in 1980, UCEI's mission has been to foster research and educate students and policy makers on energy issues that are crucial to the future of California, the nation, and the world.  Website.

 

World Energy Council - offers a wide variety of services, programmes and activities to its members as well as to the energy industry at large and to the general public. WEC is well known on the global energy scene for its authoritative reports, analyses, research, case studies, medium and long-term energy projections, and policy and strategy recommendations.
